Serangoon Stadium and Sengkang Sports Centre: Facilities, Hours and How to Book

People search for Serangoon Stadium mostly for one reason: they want a track to run on. It opens earlier than almost anything else in the area, at 4.30am. Sengkang Sports Centre, one town further up the North East Line, is the busier all-rounder, with a pool with slides, a gym, a sports hall and a hockey pitch. This guide covers both, from hours and gates to booking, and explains how each fits into life at Hougang Central, where LinkTown Residences (Hougang Central Residences) is planned above Hougang MRT, two NEL stops from both Serangoon and Sengkang.

Serangoon Stadium

What it is

A community stadium with a running track around a field, managed by ActiveSG’s Serangoon Sport Centre. The sport centre’s own description is modest: a safe place to jog and a well-run swimming complex. That is exactly what regulars use it for. Early risers come before work, and evening runners arrive once the heat eases.

Hours and gates

ActiveSG lists the stadium as open from 4.30am to 9.30pm every day. The main entrance opens at 7am; before that, walk in through the side gate. There was no planned closure on its ActiveSG page when we checked, but the field and track can be taken up by school events and competitions, so glance at the page first if you are planning an interval session.

Booking

You do not need to book to run on the track during public hours. Groups that want the field for football or a team event hire it through ActiveSG, and the stadium has its own hiring rules on the facility page.

Next door and nearby

Sengkang Sports Centre

What is there

• Swimming complex. Sheltered, with water slides since it became a feature pool on 1 July 2025. Slides need riders of 1.2m or 1.3m and up. Closed Mondays.
• Sengkang ActiveSG Gym. Daily 7am to 10pm, entry by app pass.
• Sport hall. Indoor courts booked through ActiveSG; badminton is the main use.
• Hockey pitch and outdoor pickleball courts. ActiveSG calls the centre a world-class hockey venue.
• Active Health Lab (#02-07), a Sport Singapore space for health and fitness checks and advice on getting active.

The centre shares its site with Anchorvale Community Club, which runs its own classes, and the hawker centre at Anchorvale Village is across the road. The 12 October closure

ActiveSG has posted a full-day closure of the whole centre on 12 October 2026. If you have lessons or a court booking that week, check the facility page for any updates.

How to book courts, the gym and the pool

1. Log in to the ActiveSG app with Singpass.
2. Courts: search the centre, pick the sport, date and slot, and pay in the app. Evening and weekend badminton slots go first.
3. Gym and pool: buy a pass and scan in. Sengkang’s pool needs a feature pool pass; Serangoon’s needs a normal one.
4. Stadium hire: book through ActiveSG for exclusive use of the field.

Which one suits you?

• Runners: Serangoon Stadium, for its early opening. Hougang Stadium, closer to Hougang Central, is the everyday alternative.
• Families: Sengkang, for the slides and the riverside park next door.

Hougang has its own sport centre, pool and stadium a short walk from the MRT, and they reopened in May 2026 after an upgrade; our Hougang sports centre guide covers them.
