Punggol Coast Mall: Shops, Food, Supermarket and Getting There from Hougang

Punggol Coast Mall is the newest big shopping stop in the north-east. It is part of the Punggol Digital District, the JTC business park and Singapore Institute of Technology campus at the northern tip of Punggol, and it sits on top of Punggol Coast MRT station (NE18), the last stop of the North East Line. For anyone looking at LinkTown Residences (Hougang Central Residences), it is four stops up the same line, so it is a realistic option for a weekend errand or a meal out.

How it is laid out

Unlike an enclosed suburban box, Punggol Coast Mall is spread through the ground and lower floors of the Digital District’s buildings, linked by walkways and an open plaza. It is pleasant on a dry evening. In a storm, plan your route between buildings. The store directory gives each shop’s building number (84, 88 or 98 Punggol Way) as well as its unit, which helps.

Anchor tenants

• FairPrice Finest opened on 28 August 2025. FairPrice Group billed it as a gen-AI powered supermarket, with smart carts and digital tools to help you find items. It is the main reason many northern Punggol households now shop here.
• Harvey Norman opened a store of about 1,077 sqm in August 2025, per The Straits Times, for electronics and furniture.
• Muji (a shop with a café) and Daiso, both named by JTC.

Around them are pharmacies, opticians, phone shops, banks, fitness studios and enrichment centres, the everyday mix you would expect in a new town centre.

Food and restaurants

Food takes up much of the directory. Examples listed as of September 2026:

• Local favourites: Song Fa Bak Kut Teh (#01-215) and Toast Box (#01-128).
• Chinese and family dining: Paradise Classic and Garden Fresh.
• Coffee and drinks: Grains & Co. & Kopifellas (#02-133) and KOI Thé (#01-85).

Restaurants change faster than any other category in a new mall, so treat these as a sample.

Punggol Coast Hawker Centre

If you want hawker prices, Punggol Coast Hawker Centre is part of the same cluster. JTC lists it with 40 stalls and 576 seats. At weekday lunch it fills with district office workers and SIT students, so residents usually find it easier before 11.30am, after 2pm or on weekend evenings.

Families and community

• Indoor play: Playground by PlayMade (#02-127) is a paid play space. The directory lists weekday hours from 9am and weekend hours from 10am, both to 10pm.
• Open spaces: the open plaza and walkways give children room to move, and the park connectors and Punggol Waterway are close by for a ride or walk. The mall’s promotions page lists any weekend events.

Transport links

Punggol Coast station opened in December 2024 as the North East Line’s new northern terminus. LTA opened Punggol Coast Bus Interchange on 29 June 2025, calling it Singapore’s 15th integrated transport hub, linking the MRT station, the bus interchange and the mall. It is run by Go-Ahead Singapore and started with services 34 and 117/117M, moved from Punggol Bus Interchange with extended routes towards places such as Changi Airport, Tampines and Yishun. If you only need a quick errand, Waterway Point is one stop closer at Punggol (NE17) and bigger. Punggol Coast Mall suits a visit when you want the new supermarket, Muji or Harvey Norman, or a quieter weekday evening.

Why a Hougang Central resident would go

The Digital District is one of the north-east’s growth stories. JTC’s business parks and the SIT campus bring jobs and students into Punggol, and the mall exists to serve them as much as residents. For someone living at Hougang Central, it is a four-stop hop for a different set of shops and a waterfront setting. At home, LinkTown Residences is planned above Hougang MRT and a new integrated bus interchange, with a mall of about 300,000 sq ft developed and owned by CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust, expected to be the largest in Hougang.
