Seletar Airport and Seletar Aerospace Park: Flights, Food, Wetlands and Bus 102 from Hougang
Seletar Airport is Singapore’s small second civil airport, and the aerospace park around it hides colonial bungalows, restaurants and a wetland. Plus the direct bus from Hougang.
Seletar Airport is Singapore’s other civil airport: a small airfield north of Sengkang that handles business jets, flying schools and a scheduled service to Kuala Lumpur. Around it sits Seletar Aerospace Park, JTC’s estate for aircraft engine, maintenance and training companies. For a day out, the interest lies in the old RAF quarter, where colonial bungalows now hold restaurants beside a small wetland park. It is also one of the easier trips from LinkTown Residences (Hougang Central Residences), because bus 102 starts at Hougang Central Interchange and ends up at the airport.
Getting there from Hougang Central
The passenger terminal is about 5.3 km north of Hougang MRT in a straight line (OneMap).

Seletar Airport today
Changi Airport Group operates Seletar Airport. Its current passenger terminal, at 21 Seletar Aerospace Road 1, opened in late 2018 and is compact: short walks, short queues. The airport’s airline page lists one scheduled operator, Firefly, flying to Subang, Kuala Lumpur’s older city airport. Check which Singapore airport your ticket uses before you set off. The airport also handles business aviation through the Seletar Business Aviation Centre, plus charters and flying clubs.
If you live in Hougang and travel often to central Kuala Lumpur, a Seletar–Subang flight can be a quicker door-to-door option than Changi. Compare fares and check-in times on the day; the airline sets its own rules.
A little history
Seletar began as a Royal Air Force base in the late 1920s and became one of Britain’s main air stations in the region. It passed to Singapore after the British withdrawal in 1971. When JTC planned the aerospace park in the 2000s, many of the old RAF bungalows and the British street names were kept, and JTC now marks the site’s past with a heritage trail.
Seletar Aerospace Park
According to JTC, the park is home to more than 80 multinational and local companies and over 6,000 aerospace professionals, covering manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul, research and training. Tenants named by JTC include Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Bombardier, GE Aviation, Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace and ST Engineering. Most of it is working industrial land behind fences, so visitors stick to the public roads and the leisure quarter.
What visitors can do
The Oval: restaurants in colonial bungalows
The Oval is JTC’s name for the heritage core, where black-and-white bungalows on tree-lined roads now house dining and leisure venues. Two established names, both checked this month:
- The Summerhouse (3 Park Lane): a conserved 1930s estate with the Botanico restaurant, the daytime Wildseed Café and the evening Wildseed Bar. Reservations are recommended at weekends. Our Sengkang cafés guide covers Wildseed as a trip from Fernvale.
- Wheeler’s Estate (2 Park Lane): a restaurant, live music and events venue in a large garden setting, open from the afternoon on most days and from the morning at weekends.
Hours change, and other bungalows host smaller cafés and bars that come and go, so check each venue’s own website before you go.
Hampstead Wetlands Park
This 3.23-hectare NParks park sits among the bungalows and is open 24 hours. It has a nature trail, a boardwalk and freshwater ponds that attract birds such as the white-breasted waterhen. There is no car park of its own; NParks directs drivers to the car park at 2 Park Lane, about five minutes’ walk away. Cycling on the boardwalk is not allowed. Plane-spotting
JTC’s park also has an aviation-themed playground and a boardwalk with views of aircraft movements, which makes it a good outing for children who like planes. For more, see our North-East playgrounds guide. Stay on public paths and respect the security fences.
A simple half-day: bus 102 from Hougang Central, brunch at one of the bungalows, a loop of Hampstead Wetlands Park, then a stop at The Seletar Mall in Fernvale on the way back, which the same bus passes.
What it means for Hougang Central
For a resident of Hougang Central Residences, Seletar is a small bonus rather than a reason to buy: a direct bus to a quiet weekend spot, a regional airport for KL trips, and a large aerospace employer cluster within reach for those working there. LinkTown Residences is part of a mixed-use development planned to be directly linked to Hougang MRT, with the new bus interchange integrated into it and a mall of about 300,000 sq ft. The Cross Island Line interchange at Hougang, with Phase 1 targeted for around 2030, will add a direct line east towards Pasir Ris and Aviation Park.
Prices have not been released: analysts expect an average of about S$2,500–2,600 psf, an estimate only. The launch is expected in early 2027, and UOL’s August 2026 results guide a 2H 2027 launch.
